Injuries caused at work in Ontario are governed by Workplace Safety and Insurance legislation enforced by the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board. Their web site address is www.wsib.on.ca. Certain employers and industries are exempt from WSIB. If injured at work, you may have the right to elect to receive benefits from WSIB or commence court action against those responsible for your injuries. If injured at work, you should consult WSIB and our lawyers before making an election. If you have a right to an election and choose to elect not to make a claim through WSIB, there are strict time-lines to be met. The time-lines and rights relating to elections are found on WSIB’s web site.

If your employer has exposed you to a harmful situation at work or if you are injured at work because of someone else’s negligence or mistake, you may be able to advance a claim for compensation.
